A landing craft of State Trading Organization (STO) has run aground in the early hours of Monday morning.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) media official Ibrahim Azim said the landing craft ran aground a reef at around 2am on Monday. The vessel is named “Kandihaa”.

Raajje.mv understands that the vessel had 2000 bags of basic staple foods for Eydhafushi, Kulhudhuffushi and Hoarafushi islands.

No statement had been released by STO.

Azim added that MNDF had begun to salvage the vessel.
