President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has been briefed on the challenges facing Buruni island of Thaa atoll in local tourism development.
The president met the councilors of the island on Thursday, where discussions revolved around the development plans and ongoing projects in the island.
The meeting was joined by MP for Vilufushi constituency Hassan Afeef and saw councilors expressing satisfaction with the multiple development initiatives underway in the island, and thanking the incumbent administration for its development vision.
A detailed conversation regarding the development strategy for the island was also observed, during which councilors briefed the president on the most pertinent requirements and pressing concerns of the community.
They requested the government to add to the harbor development projects slated for 2022 and shed the spotlight on concerns revolving round guesthouse development and space constraints at the council secretariat and health center.
Discussions also touched down on the requirement of a children’s park and tourism development in the region.
The meeting also saw President Solih briefing the councilors on the development vision for the island, he also assured them that the President’s Office will work towards finding agreeable solutions to their concerns.
