The lifestyle of Maldivians easily accommodates beach volleyball as a sport

Discussions have been held on the progression of volleyball in the Maldives.

During a meeting with the delegates from the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) including President Dr Ary S. Graça, on Wednesday, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih highlighted his administration’s commitment to facilitate young athletes to reach their full potential and increase their presence in the international sporting events.

President Solih also discussed several different requirements for clubs and organizations to enhance Maldives volleyball, including the development of a high-performance training center in the Maldives for long-term training for the athletes.

FIVB President Graça remarked that the lifestyle of Maldivians easily accommodates beach volleyball as a sport. The pair engaged in discussions on ways through which beach volleyball may be further promoted in the island nation.

The meeting was joined by Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof, Chief of Staff at the President's Office Ali Zahir, Secretary, of Foreign Relations Ibrahim Hood and the President of the Volleyball Association of the Maldives, Mohamed Ranesh.
