Individual injured in fire onboard boat near Thilafushi

An individual has been injured in a fire that broke out in a boat in the lagoon of Thilafushi island, Kaafu atoll.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) revealed that they received reports of the fire at around 4:39pm on Thursday and that a team of MNDF Fire and Rescue officials was dispatched immediately.

The fire broke out in a boat while it was in the lagoon of the Villa Group’s site and it is drifting off after being let loose.

The injured individual is currently being transferred to the capital, Malé City for treatment.

MNDF reported that the fire is believed to have broken out while crewmen were fueling the boat up.

MNDF’s fire launch is currently active in extinguishing the flames.
