A 21-year-old has died while diving off Gadhdhoo island in Gaaf Dhaal atoll, for bait.

Those who had reportedly gone diving with the Maldivian man had taken him to the Gadhdhoo Health Center after they observed him drifting motionless under water.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) received the report close to 4pm on Monday.

Police cited the island’s health center having reported that the man was pronounced dead-upon-arrival at the center.

The case is under further investigation by the authority.
