Malé City's mass congregation for Salat al-Eid

An Islamic Ministry assigned imam leads the mass congregation for Salat al-Eid (Eid al-fitr) on Sunday, 25th June. For Sunni Muslims, who make up the entirety of the Maldivian population, the prayer is a Sunnah Muia'akkadah and even women are encouraged to participate.
'Stand before Allah' is often found in the Quran in reference to salat, every raka'ah begins in the standing position.
Those at the congregation at sujood (prostration). Sujood is considered to be the most pillar of salat and is when Muslims offer 'hamd' (praising of god).
The imam reciting his sermon (khutbah) at the congregation; the sermon had focused on the importance of unity and acceptance.
Those at the congregation listen to the khutbah, listening to it is considered mandatory for those that offer the Eid al-fitr salat.
Expatriate workers offer salat shoulder-to-shoulder with locals. A number of expatriates in the country are Muslim given that most of Maldives' migrant worker force comes from Bangladesh and India.
