Those arrested in a drug crackdown in capital Malé City on Thursday night, have been remanded.
A total of eight suspects were arrested from Lonumidhilige in the Maafannu ward of the city, including four minors.
Two minors were transferred to house arrest with conditions- one for five days and the other for 10- while the remaining two were remanded by 10 days.
Two men and one woman, Maldivians, were also taken into custody from the house that was run as a secret drug café along with an expatriate. While this includes a couple, police said that they were not taken for a remand hearing as no substance was discovered on them.
The remaining man and expatriate have also been remanded by 10 days.
Authorities arrested 37 suspects in a drug operation conducted in the capital city this week, where a total of five houses were raided. These houses are to have provided services under café procedure.
Police had said that the “service” was being provided at various houses with the consent and approval of the landlord or proprietor.
