The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has stated that Abdul Rahman Adam, 65, from Maalhos island of Alif Alif atoll, who was found murdered on July 13, died as a result of injuries sustained to his head.
After conducting an autopsy abroad, Abdul Rahman's body was recently brought back to the Maldives. In a message sent to the media on Thursday, the police institution revealed that the preliminary autopsy report indicates that the victim died due to injuries sustained to his head.
As of Friday, 19 days have passed since Abdul Rahman's death, and no arrests have been made so far. When asked why no one has been arrested so far in connection with Abdul Rahman's death and if there are any suspects, a police media official earlier confirmed that no one has been arrested yet, and no suspects have been identified so far in connection with the case.
The decision to conduct an autopsy examination on the victim’s body was made to determine the exact cause of death and to gather evidence necessary for the investigation.
In the incident, which occurred in the early hours of July 13, Abdul Rahman Adam, who was sleeping at home, sustained severe injuries. He passed away at dawn while receiving treatment at the island’s health center. According to available information, his head was smashed with an object.
The victim’s body was brought to the capital Malé City for further analysis the same day.
According to sources, Abdul Rahman's family does not want a post-mortem examination to be conducted. The family stated that they do not wish for the post-mortem because they don't want to inflict any further harm to the body.
