The Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) has celebrated International Volleyball Day.

To mark the internationally observed Volleyball Day, VAM held a special event on Monday night at the indoor court of the Youth Center.

The event was graced by the Commissioner of Sports, Mohamed Tholal. In addition to this, VAM’s President Mohamed Latheef and Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) Vice President Ahmed Ismail also participated in the event.

Speaking at the event, Latheef said that building a young generation of volleyball players is very important, and that special efforts are already being made towards this goal. He noted that an experienced coach from Japan is currently working with VAM.

Further, as part of expanding the volleyball youth development program to the atolls, Latheef announced that a Level 1 coaching course by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) will be held in September 2025. He added that the opportunity to participate in the course will also be extended to outlying atolls.

Latheef also acknowledged the work being done by academies in the capital Malé City in running youth development programs. He stated that VAM will provide all possible assistance to these academies.

Students from Blues For Volleyball, My Sports Academy, and Muneez Volleyball Movement participated in the event organized by VAM.
