The President's Office has opened applications for two vacant positions at the Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) as the terms of two current members are coming to an end.

According to the HRCM Act, candidates for the commission's membership must be Maldivian citizens who are at least 25 years old. In addition to this, they should not have been convicted of a Hadd offense in Islam by a court of law within the past five years.

Further, candidates must not have been convicted of bribery, must not be employed by the government or any other entity, and must not hold a political position or be a member or active participant in any political party, as stipulated in the law.

The Human Rights Commission of Maldives membership application forms can be submitted to the President's Office from 08:30am to 12pm every day except official holidays.

The President's Office also stated that the application form for the commission's membership can be downloaded from their website.

The current five members of the HRCM are Mariyam Muna, Moomina Waheed, Aminath Shifa’ath, Samau Ahmed Najeeb, and Ismail Habeeb.

The deadline for submitting applications for membership of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives is July 9, at 12pm.
