The President's Office has revealed that a PR team did not participate in President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's trip to Saudi Arabia to perform this year's Hajj pilgrimage.
President Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed departed for Saudi Arabia on May 31 to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. They returned to Malé City on June 9 after completing the Hajj pilgrimage.
In response to an RTI request submitted by RaajjeTV under the Right to Information Act, inquiring about the number of PR team members who participated in President Muizzu's Hajj trip and the expenses incurred for them, the President's Office stated that no one had traveled to perform PR work during the president's trip to Saudi Arabia for Hajj.
Some government ministers also accompanied President Muizzu on his trip to Saudi Arabia for Hajj. These included Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Finance Moosa Zameer, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, and Minister of Youth and Sports Abdulla Rafiu.
In addition to this, the Chief Imam of the Islamic Center, Sheikh Mohamed Latheef and his wife, Chief of Protocol Mohamed Shahudhee, and the spouses of some ministers also participated in the trip.
During his trip to perform Hajj, Muizzu met with Maldivian pilgrims, as well as Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and some senior Saudi government officials. Photos and news of these meetings have been published on the President's Office website.
