The Maldives senior national football team has departed for the Philippines to compete in the Asian Cup Qualification.
The national team left for the Philippines on Saturday.
In the Asian Cup Qualification, the national team will first compete against the Philippines. That match is scheduled for Tuesday in the Philippines. Although the first match was initially set to be played in the Maldives, it was moved to the Philippines as it coincides with the last ten days of Ramadan.
The Maldives will play six matches in the Asian Cup Qualification. After playing against the Philippines on Tuesday in the first match, the second match will be against East Timor on June 10. The third match will be against Tajikistan on October 9.
They will play against Tajikistan in the second leg on October 14. After that, they will face the Philippines in the second leg on November 18, and the final match, the second leg against East Timor, is scheduled for March 31 next year.
In preparation for the Asian Cup Qualification, the national football team played against India on March 19. India defeated the Maldives 3 – 0 in the game.
