The People's Majlis has approved the changes brought by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to the scope of work of three ministries.
The changes were approved in Tuesday's sitting of the People’s Majlis, with the votes of 50 lawmakers.
The president has made changes to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, and the Ministry of Finance and Planning.
Looking at the changes made, under the powers vested to the president by the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives, he has abolished the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. Similarly, the name of the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has been changed to the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure.
In addition to this, the name of the Ministry of Finance has been changed to the Ministry of Finance and Planning. Looking at another change made by the president, the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy has been abolished, and the name of the Ministry of Tourism has been changed to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
