Former MP for Makunudhoo constituency Mohamed Raee has said that the people of the Maldives will not be intimidated and that they are protesting because they are facing many hardships.

Speaking at a gathering of the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) held on Friday night as part of the series of ongoing opposition protests against the government, Raee said that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu does not know how to govern, that he is clueless about the budget, and that the country's projects have come to a halt. Raee said that while no projects are being carried out across any island of the Maldives, there has been no progress for the citizens.

Referring to the reasons for the protests, Raee said that people are protesting because they are facing several hardships and their rights are being taken away. He said that with the incompetence of the person in power, the current administration is oppressing the people. He also said that the country's economy is being destroyed and freedom is being lost.

Raee said that they are protesting for the rights of the people and not to mock anyone. He also said that they will intensify the series of protests in the future and more people will join these protests.
