Five more tourist facilities resume services
The island nation continues to expand its tourism infrastructure, offering a diverse range of options for zealous travelers worldwide, with 1,182 operational tourist accommodation establishments across the Maldives.

Five more tourist facilities have resumed services to tourists across the Maldives.

This was revealed by the latest weekly statistics publicized by the Ministry of Tourism on Thursday.

As such, the ministry’s figures revealed that as of March 12, the number of operational tourist accommodation facilities across the Maldives sat at 1,182. The guesthouses span across 111 islands of 20 atolls, with hotels operational on nine islands of eight atolls and resorts operational across 175 islands of 19 atolls. 69 percent of the bed capacity is occupied by resorts, followed by 23 percent occupied by guesthouses, five percent by liveaboard vessels, and three percent by hotels.

The ministry revealed that as of March 12, 98 percents of the beds were in operation.

Presently, a total of 63,163 tourist beds are in operation across these facilities, which include 179 resorts, 831 guesthouses, 15 hotels, and 157 live-aboard vessels.

The beds operational across these facilities include 43,907 in resorts, 2,023 in hotels, 14,080 in guesthouses, and 3,144 in live-aboard vessels.

According to the latest weekly statistics by the tourism ministry, tourist facilities currently in operation are:

  • Two resorts and 21 guesthouses across islands of Haa Alif atoll,
  • Two resorts, one hotel and 14 guesthouses across islands of Haa Dhaal atoll,
  • 17 resorts, one hotel and seven guesthouses across islands of Raa atoll,
  • 17 resorts, one hotel and 71 guesthouses across islands of Baa atoll,
  • 10 resorts and 149 guesthouses across islands of Alif Alif atoll,
  • 17 resorts, one hotel and 100 guesthouses across islands of Alif Dhaal atoll,
  • One resort and seven guesthouses across islands of Faafu atoll,
  • Nine resorts and eight guesthouses across islands of Dhaalu atoll,
  • One resort and nine guesthouses across islands of Thaa atoll,
  • Three resorts and 10 guesthouses across islands of Gaaf Dhaal atoll,
  • Two resorts and eight guesthouses across islands of Shaviyani atoll,
  • Eight resorts and 13 guesthouses across islands of Noonu atoll,
  • 11 resorts and three guesthouses across islands of Lhaviyani atoll,
  • 57 resorts, eight hotels and 291 guesthouses across islands of Kaafu atoll,
  • Five resorts, one hotel and 55 guesthouses across islands of Vaavu atoll,
  • Three resorts and three guesthouses across islands of Meemu atoll,
  • Two resorts and three guesthouses across islands of Laamu atoll,
  • Five resorts, one hotel and 13 guesthouses across islands of Gaaf Alif atoll,
  • 27 guesthouses in Fuvahmulah City,
  • Two resorts, one hotel and 19 guesthouses across districts of Addu City in Seenu atoll
