The People’s Majlis has greenlighted the nominations forwarded by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to the posts of Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Morocco.

The People's Majlis on Monday approved both nominees proposed by the president to the parliament.

The vote was taken during Monday's parliamentary sitting where 65 lawmakers voted in favor of appointing Lieutenant General (Retired) Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef of G. Kanditholhiaage, the current Ambassador of Maldives to Turkey and former Chief of Defence Force, as the Non-Resident Ambassador of Maldives to the Russian Federation.

Further, 64 lawmakers voted to appoint Ahmed Sareer, the current Ambassador of Maldives to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the Non-Resident Ambassador of Maldives to the Kingdom of Morocco.

Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef retired from military service after 39 years when he reached the age of 60.

Sareer had held several positions in the Maldives' foreign affairs sector, previously. He has obtained a Master's Degree in Foreign Affairs and Trade.
