All passengers and crew members onboard a capsized speedboat have been rescued.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they received a report of a speedboat named ‘Huvan’ capsizing at around 07:57am on Sunday.

The capsized speedboat was traveling from Dhigurah island of Alif Dhaal atoll to the capital Malé City.

MPS revealed that 45 passengers and three crew members were onboard at the time the speedboat capsized.

Upon receiving information, emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to the area.

MPS revealed that everyone onboard, including four children, were safely rescued.

Further, the police institution revealed that all passengers and crew members were transported to Dhigurah, and they are in good health condition.

Highlighting that a complete investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the incident, MPS expressed gratitude to the police security teams and all those who assisted in the rescue operation.
