Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib has announced that following the recent adjustments made to the flat list, a total of 1,820 individuals are now set to receive flats from the government.
At a press conference held to disclose information after the government made changes to the list of 4,000 flats announced by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and made adjustments as the incumbent wanted, Minister Muththalib said that in the verification process of applications, the government looked at the information provided by the person and the documents submitted.
The minister stated that the information and documents submitted were checked against the government's database to verify their authenticity. The minister said that to check if points were awarded correctly, they looked at the information provided by the person.
The minister said that in this work as well, data available in the government was checked and information that could be verified has been verified. The minister said that with the publication of the flat list, work will proceed to hand over flats to those with no issues identified.
Those who do not receive flats will have a one-month period to submit complaints. During this period, those removed from the list can submit complaints through the portal. If any member of the public has any complaint about a person included in the list, they can submit a complaint to the ministry by letter or email. Looking at the results at the end of verification, out of 3,721 people on the three-bedroom list, 1,423 people met the criteria and scored above 75 points. Out of 1,218 people on the two-bedroom list, 397 people met the criteria and scored above 73 points.”

The minister said that out of 4,939 forms checked, 1,820 people met the criteria and scored enough points to be determined eligible for flats. With this, the minister said that the list now being announced directly states that 1,820 people will receive flats. While 2,695 people have been determined not to meet the criteria, 424 people have been removed from the list due to changes in points, the minister said.
The housing minister said that in carrying out the verification process for the list of 4,000 flats, they looked at the rules formulated under the ‘Gedhoruveriyaa’ scheme gazetted on 26 June 2022. In addition to this, the minister said they also looked at the instructions of the ‘Gedhoruveriyaa’ portal created for submitting applications.
The minister highlighted that it was announced that for three bedrooms, those scoring 76 points would receive flats, those scoring 75 points would go to a draw for three bedrooms, and 3,721 people scoring 75 points and above have been included in the list. The minister said 2,750 three-bedroom flats are being built.
Further, for two-bedroom flats being built, those scoring 73 points will receive them, and 1,218 people scoring 73 points and above are included in the list. The minister went on to reveal that under the 4,000 unit project currently under construction, 1,250 two-bedroom flats are being built.
We have not looked at any additional applications to add anyone to our list. We have looked at the forms of those scoring the points I mentioned included in the list, and identified those who do not meet the criteria and those whose points have decreased below the level to receive flats, and determined those who will not receive flats through this process. As the verification work was done through the portal, no one checking the forms had the opportunity to change any information or documents submitted through the portal. The person submitting the form was also not given the opportunity to make changes."
