Five individuals have been arrested and their details made public in connection with a knife assault that left a person injured in Thimarafushi island of Thaa atoll.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they have launched an investigation into an assault involving five individuals who entered a house in Thimarafushi.
The incident was reported to authorities at around 1:27pm on 28 December 2024.
On Sunday, MPS announced that they had arrested five individuals in connection with the case.
The suspects behind bars include Ahmed Ameen, 36, Ahmed Shahudee, 38, Ghaas Ibrahim, 32, Abdulla Ashraf, 39 all from Thimarafushi and a native of Malé City Mohamed Rauf, 54.
MPS highlighted that the five individuals were arrested under a court order.
According to available information, the assault occurred between two young men from the island. During the altercation, one person reportedly stabbed the other in the back. The injured person was treated at the health center.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
