Nominations for the Tax Appeal Tribunal have been sent to the People’s Majlis for review.
Nominations were sent for parliamentary approval, to be appointed to the four vacant positions at the Tax Appeal Tribunal.
Speaker of the People’s Majlis Abdul Raheem Abdulla forwarded the names to the Judiciary Committee for review on Tuesday.
The submission of names for the four vacant positions at the Tax Appeal Tribunal was announced at Monday's sitting.
The four positions at the Tax Appeal Tribunal became vacant after President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu dismissed four members based on recommendations by the People's Majlis.
The President's Office opened applications for positions earlier and all the applicants names were sent for parliamentary review.
The names sent to parliament for review are:
- Majeed Ali, native to Dhaandhoo island of Gaaf Alif atoll
- Aishath Adam, native to Alifushi island of Raa atoll
- Ibrahim Shareef, native to Malé City
- Hassan Zuhair Mohamed, native to Malé City
- Shifza Abdul Gayyoom, native to Nilandhoo island of Gaaf Alif atoll
- Ahmed Saeed, native to Malé City
- Abdullah Abdul Hakeem Azaan, native to Naifaru island of Lhaviyani atoll
- Mohamed Ameen Zahir, native to Hithadhoo district of southernmost Addu City
- Mohamed Faris Thoha, native to Malé City
- Abdul Ghani Mohamed, native to Malé City
- Ahmed Ali, Hulhumalé Flat
- Ali Riza Ismail, Hulhumalé Hiyaa II
- Fathimath Shafeenaaz, Hulhumalé Plot 11021
Muizzu has sought from the parliament to select the four most suitable candidates from these 13 individuals for the four vacant positions.
