Two arrests have been made in connection with a case of theft in southernmost Addu City.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that two men were arrested for stealing from a shop in Hithadhoo district of the southernmost city.
A case of armed robbery at a shop in Hithadhoo was reported to the police on October 14.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, the police institution revealed that further investigations are currently underway.
MPS has confirmed that the two men arrested in connection with the case of theft are two Maldivian men, aged 40 and 31.
The 40-year-old was arrested on Tuesday and upon being presented to the court for a remand hearing, he was slapped with a 30-day remand.
The 31-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday under a court order, according to the police.
In light of the increase in robbery cases in Malé and outlying atolls, authorities have been conducting special operations since early September to ensure the safety of the communities nationwide.
According to the police institution, public cooperation is crucial in their efforts to establish a crime-free and safe environment.
