President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the relationship between Maldives and China is built on the foundation of preserving sovereignty and that both countries respect each other's peace and independence.
He said this in his speech delivered at the reception to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China held on Monday evening.
Taking the podium at the event, Muizzu said that the relationship between Maldives and China has endured based on the principle of non-interference in each other's internal affairs.
He stated that despite the natural geographical distance between the two countries, the ties have significantly solidified over the past years.
Shedding light on the significance of the ties between both countries, Muizzu expressed confidence that in the future, the relations will enhance further, and cooperation will increase as well, with which new opportunities will arise, progress will be made, and peace will be enhanced.
During his speech, the Maldivian president also shared his vision for the relationship between Maldives and China and stated that China continues to participate consistently and steadfastly in the island nation’s development journey.
Highlighting that China's progress is not just its own story, but an example for all developing countries including the Maldives, Muizzu applauded the country’s progress as a nation.
Further, he said that China has demonstrated to the world, the power of strategic nation-building and unity.
Noting that China has shown that anything can be achieved through hard work and sincerity, Muizzu said that China is a significant country in terms of culture and heritage.
He went on to shed light on the important role the country has played in creating modern inventions.
President Muizzu extended National Day greetings to the leaders and people of China during his speech.
He also acknowledged their determination, unwavering resolve, and steadfastness and said that China's development as a powerful nation in the global economy is a result of their efforts to modernize development.
China’s National Day commemorates the establishment of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.
