A letter addressed to President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan from the president of Maldives, has been delivered.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer handed the letter over to UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Wednesday.
The letter was handed over during a meeting held in Abu Dhabi, as part of Zameer’s official visit to the Middle East.
The meeting saw both ministers expressing mutual keenness to expand avenues of cooperation.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed that the Maldivian leader’s letter was regarding the relationship between both countries.
However, further details were not disclosed.
Discussions at Wednesday’s meeting also revolved around ways to strengthen ties and other important issues concerning both countries.
Sheikh Abdullah shed light on the strong relationship between the governments of Maldives and UAE, noting that efforts have been made on both sides to enhance the partnership for their mutual benefit.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives revealed that Zameer headed to UAE on an official visit on September 2 at the invitation of the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.
Zameer concluded his visit to the UAE on Wednesday, during which he engaged in high-level consultations and held several meetings with UAE government officials.
