Vice president of the council of Maarandhoo island in Haa Alif atoll, Ahmed Rameez has died suddenly.
President of Maarandhoo Council, Jailam Haroon revealed that Rameez was rushed to the island’s health center after he started feeling breathless and faced difficulties breathing, while at a game on Saturday.
Stressing that Rameez had spoken to the doctor at the health center after he was taken there, Haroon added that he started facing difficulties breathing against and was immediately rushed to the Atoll Hospital in Dhidhdhoo island.
According to the council president, Rameez suffered from a heart attack and was pronounced dead at around 08:30pm on Saturday.
His funeral will be held in Dhidhdhoo island.
Taking to social media platform ‘X’ following the sudden death, Chairperson of the former ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and former Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail expressed deep grief in learning of the passing of Maarandhoo council’s vice president.
Fayyaz added that Rameez had made significant contributions to the progress of the party.
He concluded with a prayer and a message of condolences for the mourning family.
Taking to ‘X’, the MDP Secretariat also offered condolences and joined those in mourning Rameez’s death.
Rameez was involved in several activities of the former ruling party, on the frontlines.
