Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) has deployed new ground handling equipment for Velana International Airport (VIA) operations.

MACL held a special event to inaugurate the new Ground Handling Equipment’s at the apron side.

The commissioned equipment includes four Passenger Buses, four Aircraft Stairs, two Universal Loaders, two Hi-Loaders, 10 Baggage Tractor, one Minivan 14-Seater, one Bus 32-Seater, one Air Conditioning Unit, 30 Cone & Chocks Trollies, one Container & Pallet Transporter, four Conveyor Belts, three Ground Power Units, 40 Container & Pallet Dollies, one Toilet Truck and one Twin Cab.

The event was attended by the Managing Director of MACL Mahjoob Shujau and senior members of MACL along with operations staff.

At the event a ceremonial key was handed over to operations staff to signify the deployment.

MACL notes that the new equipment was brought to accelerate the ground handling services to their partner airlines. The company notes that additional equipment is in the pipeline to be delivered in the coming months.

Furthermore, MACL stated that they believe that deployment of these new ground handling equipment will boost up the ground handling activities and would provide efficient services to their airline partners.
