The ‘Binveriyaa’ Scheme comes under the ‘Gedhoruverin’ Programme launched by the administration to address the housing crisis facing the residents of the Greater Malé Region.

Applications for plots under the second phase of the “Binveriyaa” scheme were opened for the allocation of plots of land and the second phase of the “Gedhoruveriyaa” scheme, were opened on September 24.

The government had earlier decided to issue 6,000 flats and more than 4,500 plots of land under the second phase of the housing scheme.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has committed to addressing the housing situation in the Malé region. The ‘Binveriyaa’ Housing Scheme represents the most comprehensive housing initiative ever undertaken in the country, reflecting the administration’s dedication to finding a solution to this pressing issue. This ambitious project aims to provide housing to residents and improve the overall quality of life in the region.

6,200 plots of land were issued under the “Binveriyaa” scheme in the first round.

During his presidential address in 2022, President Solih announced that a solution will be provided for those in desperate need of housing in the capital city, by the time his presidential term ends and during his fifth presidential address delivered this year, he announced the decision to increase the plots of land to be issued from GMR for housing.

Referring to his fourth presidential address delivered at the parliament, President Solih said that the government has no intention to deceive the people in its endeavor to meet the pledges.
