The site for the land reclamation project in Dhidhdhoo island of Haa Dhaal atoll, has been mobilized.

This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Tuesday.

As such, taking to Twitter to provide the latest updates of the Dhidhdhoo land reclamation project to the public, MTCC revealed that they have mobilized the project site.

The capital of Haa Alif atoll, Dhidhdhoo is progressing with a number of services being introduced for the region and a vast number of people moving from nearby islands to acquire these services. This has in turn brought the issue of a lack of plots of land on the island to the spotlight.

It is expected that the incumbent administration’s initiative to implement a land reclamation project on the island will resolve the issue of land shortage and pave the path for several avenues to enhance the island’s development journey.

MTCC was contracted to conduct a sand search survey as part of the project.

The project also entails reclamation work in an area measuring 26 hectares.

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the project to MTCC, to be completed within 360 days.

The Dhidhdhoo land reclamation project is valued at MVR 83.07 million.

MTCC revealed that the physical work of the project will only begin after an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is carried out.
