Maldives Sports Awards 2022 is the first of its kind

The first ever Maldives Sports Awards was held at the Male' Synthetic Track, on Thursday.

Maldives Sports Awards 2022 is the first of its kind and was highly anticipated.

The ceremony, attended by high profile individuals of the sports community showed a number of awards presented. As such, best sportsman and sportswoman from different associations were awarded during the ceremony.

  • Athletic Association of Maldives - Best Female Athlete: Aishath Hamna
  • Athletic Association of Maldives - Best Male Athlete: Hassan Saaid
  • Shooting Association of Maldives - Best Female Athlete: Asifa Jaufar
  • Shooting Association of Maldives - Best Male Athlete: Ziyaan Zahir
  • Body Building Association of Maldives - Best Male Athlete: Mohamed Moosa
  • Maldives Body Boarding Association - Best Male Athlete: Ali Hushruwan
  • Cricket Association of Maldives - Best Male Athlete: Adam Nasif Umar
  • Maldives Chess Association - Best Male Athlete: Mohamed Shuau
  • Maldives Chess Association - Best Female Athlete: Nihaya Ahmed
  • Badminton Association of Maldives - Best Male Athlete: Hussain Zayan Shaheed Zaki

Moreover, most promising athletes were also presented awards during the ceremony.

The Most Promising Female Athletes of the year were;

  • Fathmath Dheema Ali in First Place
  • Aishath Himna Hassan in Second Place
  • Aishath Rafa Nazim in Third Place

The Most Promising Male Athletes of the year were;

  • Nibal Ahmed in First Place
  • Ibaadhullah Adam in Second Place
  • Ali Eman in Third Place

The Best Specially Abled Male Athlete was awarded to Mohamed Mazin and the Best Specially Abled Female Athlete was awarded to Hawwa Eashal Riyaz.

Athlete Of The Year Female was awarded to Badminton Player Fathmath Nabaha and Athlete Of The Year Male was awarded to the fastest man of Maldives Hassan Saaid.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Vice President Faisal Naseem attended the Maldives Sports Awards Ceremony, and took part in handing over prestigious awards to the winners.

Moreover, Youth and Sports Ministers of neighboring countries like Srilanka and Bangladesh also took part in the ceremony.
