An individual has been arrested after threatening to hijack a Maldivian airline flight.
While the flight was to depart from Fuvahmulah City to capital Male’ City at 8:55pm on Monday, the case of an individual threatening to hijack the flight was reported to the police about five minutes before departure time.
The flight ended up being delayed for nearly three hours, as it was only allowed to leave the runway after disembarking passengers and conducting required security checks.
The national airline flight was finally allowed to depart the southern city at 11:30pm.
RaajjeMV understands that the suspect is to have repeatedly threatened to hijack the flight, to a security guard at the airport.
