Launch, sea ambulance collide near Ithaafushi Resort

An accident has occurred at sea with a launch and sea ambulance colliding in the waters near Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi.

According to information revealed by the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), the sea ambulance had been travelling from M. Muli and the launch had disembarked from capital Male' City, until eventually colliding in an accident near Ithaafushi Resort around 1am in the morning on Tuesday.

MNDF further revealed that two individuals from the eight in the sea ambulance, along with the captain who had been driving the other launch, had sustained injuries of varying severity in the accident.

Following the report of the accident at 1am last night, an MNDF Male' Area Coastguard Squadron Launch was dispatched to the scene, accompanied by another sea ambulance, to transport the injured individuals to Male' for treatment.
