Ibaadulla Adam races past the 100m junior national record
Ibaadulla's record for the 100m run was ratified as 10.97s at the National Time Trial in Hulhumale' yesterday
He is the first junior Maldivian runner to have completed the 100m run under 11 seconds
Aishath Shaaya Shafeeu also broke the 14-year record for the Women's National Discus Throw at the event

A new national record has been set for the junior 100m run by Ibaadulla Adam, during the National Time Trials held at the Hulhumale' Synthetic Track on Wednesday.

A member of the National Athletics Team, Ibaadulla's had completed the run at 10.97s, making him the first junior Maldivian runner to have completed the 100m run in under 11 seconds.

The former junior national record holder for the 100m run was Ibrahim Ashfan Ali (Appi), who's record stood at 11.08s when formalized in 2018.

Ibadulla broke this record by 0.11 seconds, and has been gaining recognition for his performance at international sporting events, such as the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) and South Asian Games (SAG) held last year, as a member of the National Athletics Team.

Aishath Shaaya Shafeeu also broke the 14-year record for the Women's National Discus Throw at the time trial held on Wednesday.

Her record was ratified at 26.02m for the event, breaking the previous national record of 25.36m set by Aishath Eva Abdulla in 2006.
