The police have forwarded their case against MP Faris Maumoon over allegations of outstanding compensation for a state expense during his father former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s longstanding tenure in office to the Prosecutor General's (PGOffice,

The police revealed this information through a post on their official twitter account on Thursday.

Though officers have not revealed any further details about the case nor are is the nature of said expense clear, RaajjeMV understands that it was an expense made by the president’s residence at the time, and one that officers believe MP Faris carries responsibility for it.

Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has expressly removed Faris from culpability and publicly stated that his son cannot be held accountable for any damages of penalty over the matter.  

The Dhiggaru constituency representative had previously been summoned for questioning over the case, which was originally handed over by the Anti-Corruption Commission, the state’s regulatory body on such offences.
