Maldives joins Chinese-led video conference on Prevention and Control of Covid-19
The conference was also attended by 200 senior health officials and experts from 19 Eurasian and South Asian countries.

The Maldives has participated in a video conference on Prevention and Control of COVID-19 between China and Countries in the Eurasia and South Asia Region.
Maldives' Minister of State for Health Dr. Shah Abdullah Mahir and other representatives from the health ministry attended the video conference held on March 20th, alongside approximately 200 senior health officials and experts from 19 Eurasian and South Asian countries.
The conference was led by professor Gao Fu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director General of China CDC, Professor Wu Zunyou, Chief Epidemiologist at China CDC and Professor Wang Guangfa, Director of the Department of Respiratory Medicine of Peking University First Hospital and other relevant officials.
During the conference, the Chinese professors shared their experiences with participants and focused on epidemic prevention and control of Covid-19.
The professors also highlighted the importance of joint international efforts during such critical times and stated the Southeastern Asian nation aims to build lines of international co-operation via "the philosophy of building Community of Shared Destiny for All Mankind".
The 4 hour-long conference also featured a Q&A session where Chinese officials and experts answered inquiries by the participants- ranging from identification of suspected cases, ways to quarantine and isolate the suspects and methods to improve the efficiency of treatment.
Expressing his appreciation to the Chinese government, Dr. Shah Abdullah Mahir stated that the information shared by China will greatly aid the Maldivian government in efforts against the Covid-19 epidemic.
