Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has revealed that the ruling party's campaign launch will take place tonight at 8:45 pm across the country.
RaajjeMV understands that the party's campaign launch for the upcoming local council elections will take place at all inhabited islands simultaneously.
According to MDP, the campaign launch will begin with a video presentation, followed by a live-telecast of President Solih's speech and speeches by candidates contesting the council elections on MDP's ticket.
Afterwards, party leader- former President Nasheed will deliver a speech that will also be telecasted live at each launch ceremony.
While President Solih and former President Nasheed is set to participate in the campaign launch, MDP has appealed for as many party members and well-wishers to attend the launch.
The main-ruling party has previously stated that they expect to secure over 60% of local council seats. MDP has achieved majority status in the three elections held most recently.
Following amendments to the decentralisation act, the upcoming local council and women's development committee elections are slated for April 4th.
