"No reason not to build 100 storey buildings": Minister Maleeh

  • He went onto add that there is no reason why buildings in Hulhumale' city should not be raised to 100-storeys once construction concludes for the airport and the Greater Male' bridge.

Minister of Communication, Science and Technology Mohamed Maleeh Jamal has stated that there is no reason for Hulhumale' city to have 100-storey buildings.

Taking to twitter on Saturday, Maleeh stated that land in Maldives is limited and expensive. He went onto add that there is no reason why buildings in Hulhumale' city should not be raised to 100-storeys once construction concludes for the airport and the Greater Male' bridge.

In the past, the minister has suggested introducing a series of interlinked, sustainable mega-skyscrapers, otherwise known as vertical cities, to solve the issue of congestion.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, the minister also stated that an alternative solution for the country is developing horizontal cities instead.
