President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has vowed to focus on primary healthcare programmes.
The President said this at Tuesday night’s event to celebrate the 50 years of service for Baa Atoll Hospital.
Speaking at the event, President Solih highlighted the success from the work to increase public awareness on health services.
He said that Maldives eliminated polio and measles and was the first country in South Asia to eliminate malaria and filariasis due to Maldives’ early primary healthcare programmes.
Regarding the early years of the Baa Atoll Hospital, President Solih said he is proud of his uncle for having a part in establishing the hospital.
