Vilufushi MP Hassan Afeef has said that judges should only be involved in court cases and not administration.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s Fala Surukhee show on Saturday night, MP Afeef said that judges should also abide by the laws passed in parliament.
The MP said that the parliament, president, and courts should obey the constitution and laws and that they should rely on Islamic sharia if no law exists on a particular issue.
He also said that the Department of Judicial Administration is tasked with handling court administration and so judges should not be concerned.
He added that the Department of Judicial Administration should not fall under the Supreme Court, since many other countries also separate administration from the court itself.
