Guesthouse Association has held its annual general meeting on Saturday at Unima Grand Hotel.
The annual general meeting saw the formation of the new Guesthouse Association board.
Ahmed Karam was appointed president of the association while Ahmed Amjad and Moosa Nasih were appointed vice presidents.
Guesthouse Association stated that the steering committee has been changed to include owners of guesthouses in various islands.
Speaking to journalists, association president Karam said President Solih’s government has been supportive of the guesthouse industry. He detailed that the SME Bank has solved their monetary issues and that an association member has been appointed to the board of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation.
Karam said that, this year, MMPRC and the association worked together to conduct training sessions and water safety programmes at guesthouses. He also said that the association will be discussing with relevant companies on joint projects at an event called Corporate Night.
