11-year-old Fathimath Dheema has received the bronze medal at the 2019 Thailand Junior and Cadet Open.

Dheema played in the team-based Cadet category alongside Egypt’s Hana Goda, Greece’s Malamentania Papadimitriou, and Mexico’s Arantxa Cossio Aceves.

The team beat Thailand and Philippines 3 – 1 and beat Thailand’s number one team in the quarter finals with a score of 3 – 2.

Dheema’s team lost 3 - 0 in the semi-finals against Taipei and world number one China won the championship.

Dheema won silver in the Asian Hopes Challenge in Thailand last week and won this year’s International Table Tennis Federation’s Regional Hopes Week.
