BPT claims lion’s share for January income
BPT accounts for 43.2 percent of earnings

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) reveals that the Authority collected MVR 2.2 billion last January, with Business Profit Tax (BPT) accounting for the highest earnings.

MIRA says the amount collected was a record figure and that BPT accounted for 43.2 percent of the total.

Goods and Services Tax (GST) accounted for 34 percent, while land and acquisition fees accounted for 8.8 percent. Airport service charges amounted to MVR 66 million, an increase of MVR 19 million from 2016 January figures. In January, MIRA recorded earnings of US$ 66.5 million in dollar earnings.

MIRA said that last January was a record breaking month for the Authority. MIRA had celebrated this achievement this month.
