New Lagoon swimming club holds annual festival

The purpose of the festival is to facilitate the growth of children and promote a welcoming community

New Lagoon Swimming Club has held their annual “Level Festival.”

Club Head Coach Ismail Farhan said that the purpose of the festival is to facilitate the growth of children and promote a welcoming community and that they also hosted their Maahefun along with the festival.

Farhan said that while they began the festival in 2017, this was their second festival, since they were unable to hold one in 2018 due to the road development project in Male’ and since they were unable to reserve the swimming track for various reasons.

He said that the 250 registered children are divided to 10 levels, and the club teaches them specific skills based on their level. He added that the children will be able to showcase their skills in the festival and that the club has also been holding sports events for rescue skills.

Farhan said that next year’s festival will be larger and that the biggest obstacle to organizing similar events is the difficulty in finding sponsors.
