Maldivian athlete Shifna Ibrahim has won gold at the Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi.
She won the gold medal after coming in at 18.01 seconds in the 100-meter dash on Monday.
Noora Rashad came in fifth in the 100-meter dash with 20:67 seconds.
Maldives’ Wasmee Waheed won the silver medal after coming in at 27:25 seconds in the men’s 200-meter dash, while Ali Ameen Abdul Ghafoor came in fifth at 34:73 seconds.
Maldives participated in the women’s 100-meter dash and the men’s 200-meter dash in the New Nations category.
While Maldivian athletes previously joined the Special Olympics individually, this is the first time the country officially joined the games.
