Football clubs to hold extraordinary congress on March 15
The congress has not been approved by FAM
Clubs will be taking a vote of no-confidence against FAM’s leadership
They will also be voting on ending New Radiant Sports Club’s suspension

Football clubs will be holding an extraordinary congress on March 15.

After receiving no support from Football Association of Maldives (FAM), Victory has sent invites for the congress, to be held at Paradise Island Resort.

At the congress, clubs will be taking a vote of no-confidence against FAM’s leadership which if passed will be sent to the normalization committee to make the necessary changes to the regulation and appoint a new FAM president and leadership.

Also at the congress, clubs will be voting on ending New Radiant Sports Club’s suspension.

Victory has invited FAM and FIFA to be observers at the extraordinary congress.

According to FAM regulations, an extraordinary congress can be held if 50 percent of the clubs approve. However, FAM did not hold an extraordinary congress within the required 14 days after Victory submitted its petition with signatures of 15 clubs on February 10.

FAM stated that two of the clubs did not have the authority to give their signatures and that four clubs have taken back their signatures. FAM did not disclose which clubs they were.
