New Radiant has condemned Football Association of Maldives (FAM)’s for suspending the sports club.
New Radiant released a press statement on Saturday night, stating that FAM suspended it without prior warning and that it was personal attack against it.
FAM suspended New Radiant for unpaid player salaries totalling MVR 3.8 million and stated that the sports club will remain suspended until it has paid their players and paid off other finances.
However, New Radiant stated that it has not received finances from FAM since 2016 and the punishment was in response to New Radiant planning a congress with other sports clubs to discuss FAM’s misconduct that have been hindering the development of Maldivian football.
New Radiant stated that it has been summoned by FAM’s player status committee, which requested that the sports club present it with a plan to pay the player salaries within a week. New Radiant also stated that a committee member had commended it for presenting them with a plan to pay the salaries and had said that there were other sports club that have not paid players for a much longer time.
