The Maldivian team’s win against their Indonesian counterparts at the International Women's Quadrangular championship, was the result of the enthusiasm players showed, says coach Mohamed Athif.
Athif said in an interview after the match that said enthusiasm had caused players to work immensely hard towards their victory and that it was rightfully earned. Maldives was victorious against Indonesia with a score of 2-1.
“The players and myself all hope that this victory will lead to more athletes, particularly female, being encouraged to commit to their sport”, Athif said.
While the Maldivian team celebrates victory, Indonesia had defeated Maldives in the Asian Games this August, with a score of 6-0.
