Tourism minister Ali Waheed has said that 140 resorts are under development in Maldives.

At a press conference on Friday night, Minister Waheed said 54 of the resorts have been at a standstill for various reasons and that 93 resorts are being developed.

Minister Waheed said that 144 resorts, 12 hotels, and 508 guest houses are currently registered in the country.

At the press conference, he also said that 1,207,852 tourists have visited Maldives so far this year.
