President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has completed his Umrah pilgrimage trip and returned to Maldives on Friday night.
Solih departed to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
During his trip, Solih was accompanied by his wife Fazna Ahmed, as well as Parliament Speaker and Jumhooree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim, Adhaalath Party’s Vice President Ali Zahir, Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s former deputy chairperson Ali Shiyam, Alifushi MP Mohamed Rasheed, and former President Mohamed Nasheed’s younger brother Nazim Sattar.
As part of his trip, the president-elect met with senior Saudi government officials and Maldivian students in the Gulf kingdom.
He has been receiving praise for performing the Umrah pilgrimage before his inauguration next Saturday.
