A leader who is out of touch with the wants of his people and cannot adequately represent the people, says MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih about his rivals in the upcoming ballots.
Solih said at a campaign event at Rasmaadhoo of Raa Atoll that such a leader will not be elected for a second term, in direct reference to incumbent President Abdulla Yameen’s bid for re-election.
“A leader who quashes dissent and all forms of expression for the people, by locking up the parliament and taking control of the judiciary, is unfit for rule. Maldivians all know this”, he said.
Solih and his running mate, MP Faisal Naseem, are running against President Yameen and pro-government vice-presidential candidate Sheikh Mohamed Shaheem.
All four candidates have been making frequent campaign trips to the out lying atolls.
