President Abdulla Yameen has begun a tour of Shaviyani atoll (also known as North Miladhummadulu) on Monday morning to mark the completion of projects in its islands.

President Yameen has arrived in Bileffahi and attended the ceremony to mark the completion of the beach protection project in the island. During the ceremony the President unveiled the monument placed to mark the completion of this project.

Later in the afternoon, President Yameen arrived in Kanditheemu and inaugurated the island’s new harbor, measuring 715-feet long and 300-feet wide.

According to the President’s Office, he is also scheduled to take part in the ceremony to mark the completion of the airport land reclamation project and the commencement of the runway project in Funadhoo Island. At the end of his tour, President Yameen will visit Milandhoo and inaugurate the island’s sewerage system.

The President will conclude his visit and arrive back in Malé on Tuesday.
