Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has begun registering guests for the party congress in AA. Ukulhas.
While 1,184 were given the invitation, MDP said that 800 are guaranteed to attend the congress.
Guests from Alif Alif atoll and Alif Dhaalu atoll are to be registered in Ukulhas and the party began registering guests from other atolls on Friday at their campaign office, in which MDP has set up tables for guests from each of the atolls. The registered guests are to travel to Ukulhas on Saturday afternoon.
MDP is set to approve crucial decisions and make changes to their regulations at their ‘extra-ordinary’ congress to be held on Saturday at 11am. While there are 83 days left until the presidential election, MDP has vowed that it will approve decisions that their ordinary members will be happy with.
MDP held its first two congresses at conference hall Dharubaaruge in 2005 and 2010. This is the first congress being held outside of the capital city, after the party claimed that the government has refused to provide them a venue in Male’.
